The Psalms of Solomon

Language, History, Theology Salomon

Eberhard Bons and Patrick Pouchelle, editors

This volume offers a fresh look at the pseudepigraphal Psalms of Solomon. The First International Meeting on the Psalms of Solomon brought together researchers whose work focuses on the Psalms of Solomon, experts on the Septuagint, and scholars of Jewish Hellenistic literature to consider anew questions surrounding the text. In an effort to expand our understanding of first-century BCE Jewish theology, these revised essays engage linguistic, historical, and theological issues, including the original language of the Psalms, their political, social, and religious contexts, and their theological intentions.

The contributors are Kenneth Atkinson, Sven Behnke, Eberhard Bons, Benedikt Eckhardt, Brad Embry, Jan Joosten, Patrick Pouchelle, Joseph L. Trafton, and Rodney A. Werline.

Eberhard Bons is Professor of Old Testament Exegesis at the Faculty of Catholic Theology, University of Strasbourg (France), and co-editor for the multivolume Historical and Theological Lexicon of the Septuagint (Mohr Siebeck).

Patrick Pouchelle is assistant professor at the Centre Sèvres (Paris, France) and secretary for the multivolume Historical and Theological Lexicon of the Septuagint (Mohr Siebeck).
